Oxfam Books and Music in the heart of Marylebone village is the charity’s flagship London bookshop. Inside you will find over 7,000 books and 1,200 CDs, vinyl, videos and DVDs. We maintain a blend of new and antiquarian books, all reasonably priced and in good condition. We cater for everyone, from the serious collector to the casual browser; from the classical music lover to the dance enthusiast. Our evening events vary from art exhibitions to recitals by string quartets. During the summer months we’ll be running a series of poetry evenings, with readings by award-winning poets. Our management team is supplemented by anything up to 40 volunteers at any time. If you’re interested in learning more about how we work and have time to spare, even a few hours a week, contact us and we’ll send you an application form. Volunteering can be immensely rewarding and of course, you’ll be helping to raise money to alleviate poverty and suffering worldwide. The books and music in the banner above are an example of what has recently passed through the store, some valuable, some not so valuable. If there’s a book or piece of music you can’t lay your hands on, send us an email and we’ll try to find it. For details of our current on-line sales, click the Links page.If you have books or music at home that you no longer need, please bring them along and let us find the customer who’s been scouring the capital for those very items. In exceptional cases, we may be able to arrange to collect locally, but please bear in mind that collections are costly.
Every pound you spend at the store supports Oxfam’s work wordwide. Every donation you bring helps raise desperately needed money. You can rest assured that every item will be inspected, evaluated
and
priced accordingly. If we can’t sell it at our own store, it will be passed
on to another more appropriate Oxfam shop. If you can’t find the book
you want, maybe you’d consider sponsoring us on one of our annual walks.
